Let’s Pray

Dear North Church Family,

I want to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to you and your family to join us for a prayer call every Tuesday at 6am, starting on April 4. Use this information to connect to the conference call: 515-604-9750; access code:  233218#

It’s been said “Much prayer, much power.” I believe there’s no better time to begin a regular weekly prayer call than with the start of our new series on prayer – “The Super Model”. Nothing is quite so powerful as prayer when, as a family, we take time to seek not only the “hand” of God (His works), but the heart of God (His love) and the “face” of God (who He is).

I believe God STILL answers prayer, yet we live in a world that is so fast paced and filled with distractions that the only times we seem to pray are when we are going through difficult times, or possibly before we partake of a meal!

God wants to us to have a relationship with Him where our natural thought is to commune with Him. This should be the priority in our lives. God should be our “first resort” instead of our “last resort”.

The story is told of a lady who was going through a very difficult time in her life and who had tried everything she could think of to move past the situation. Finally, when she’d reached her wits end, a friend asked, “Why don’t you pray about it?” The lady quickly answered, “Has it come down to that?”

North, it hasn’t come to that – the way the lady stated it. But, on the other hand, maybe it has.

The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV), “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

So let’s take God at His word. Set your alarm clocks for 6am, every Tuesday starting April 4, and join your pastor for a time of corporate prayer. Here is the conference call information again: 515-604-9750; access code:  233218#

Be Blessed & A Blessing,

Pastor M. D. Johns
